Angelo L Caravaglia (Feb 1925 - May 2008)
Angelo L Caravaglia of Salt Lake City, then Summit Park, Utah and Carefree Arizona is a mixed media sculptor, printmaker, painter, and educator. Caravaglia is orginally from Erie, Pennsylvania. He studied at Cranbrook Academy in Michigan and then in Italy at Perugia and Rome before joining the University of Utah faculty in 1956. His position at the University of Utah was initially (and until 1962) termed “printmaker“ and then “three-dimensional designer.“
Caravaglia often used very traditional forms and materials for frequently lyrical pieces. Caravaglia retired from the University of Utah and remained one of the state's most effective and well known sculptors. His distinctively drafted imaginings are represented both locally and in major public and private collections across the country.
