This Land

Dates: 12/22/2016 to 4/21/2017
Repository: Utah State Capitol
This Land is an exhibition from the State of Utah Fine Art Collection. Works included range from the early 1900s to 2015 and feature important Utah artists such Ada C. Irvine, LeConte Stewart, V Douglas Snow, and Florence Ware, among many others. These landscapes, representing scenes of fall and winter, are the work of Utah artists adding their interpretation to the long and revered practice of landscape painting. Stylistically the exhibition ranges from more traditional landscapes, to abstract works that conjure the emotion of a changing season. Works by contemporary artists explore the boundaries of the genre through the inclusion of mixed media and varied practices such as weaving, printmaking, laser cut paper, and hand sewing on canvas.
