Boyd Reese (09/14/1932 - 1990)

Boyd Reese was born in Ogden, Utah September 14, 1932. Reese was a largely self taught genre painter. He passed away in 1990.

Reese listed his educational experience as "Ogden Utah Public Schools; U.S. Army; and Veterans Administration Center at Leavenworth, Kansas with Derwood Elliot of the Kansas City Art Institute." But perhaps another Reese resume statement is more telling:

"[He is an] artist who had loved art, literature, and alcohol in equal amounts...As he has battled with his own personal demons, he has channeled his creative resources to advocate awareness of the ...'street people, unemployed people, welfare people, disinherited, disenfranchised, unemployable, and emotionally ill.'"

This bold and very creative genre painter allowed alcohol to eventually claim his life.
